Center for Excellence in Survey Research

Economics, Justice, and Society

​The Economics, Justice, and Society department is home to many of NORC’s large-scale and longitudinal flagship surveys that investigate topics such as labor force participation, consumer finances, housing needs, and trends in Americans attitudes on social issues. More

Education and Child Development

NORC’s department of Education and Child Development Studies’ research covers the full array of education-relevant populations, from pre-school children to the post-graduate doctorate holders and includes wide-ranging research methodologies, including primary data collection and reporting, analysis of individual and aggregate assessments, transcript abstraction, and classroom observations. More

Health Care

NORC’s expertise and ongoing research in health care delivery and financing — including health information technology, payment and delivery-system reform, benefit design, and quality measurement — advances stakeholders’ understanding of policies and programs, facilitates implementation projects, and contributes to important improvements in cost and quality. More

Health Sciences

NORC’s Health Sciences staff produce rich data on social priorities including child development and healthy aging, the uses of electronic clinical data in research, and the applications and effectiveness of health information technology. More

International Programs

NORC’s International Programs (INPRO) department provides core expertise in rigorous impact evaluations, process and other implementation evaluations, analytic research, and surveys and other data collection methodologies. INPRO’s areas of subject matter expertise include agriculture, infrastructure, international finance, microfinance, housing finance/mortgage lending, think tank mentoring, business climate, land registration, and poverty alleviation. More

Public Health

NORC offers a range of capabilities in public health, including technical assistance, program evaluation, and quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. Our team includes prominent health policy experts, nationally recognized public health researchers with general and specialized expertise in areas such as rural health and tribal issues, skilled methodologists, and leaders in the field of survey design and implementation. More

Statistics and Methodology

The Statistics and Methodology department pioneers innovations in all aspects of survey research.  NORC statisticians and methodologists help understand the cognitive processes underlying respondents’ reactions to surveys; design and implement rigorous, efficient methods for sampling from populations and weighting resultant survey data; and employ advanced techniques for analyzing and interpreting survey and secondary data. More
