Associate Director of External Affairs
Eric is a strategic communications director with more than 20 years of experience planning and executing communications campaigns.

As associate director of external affairs, Eric is responsible for reputation management, message creation, managing NORC’s Thought Leadership program, and engaging key stakeholders while connecting these efforts directly to NORC’s business development goals. His expertise is translating complex and technical research into clear messages the layperson and decision-makers can understand and use.

Specializing in coordinating media outreach, Eric has deep experience pitching stories to print, radio, and television reporters; drafting press releases, public statements including speeches, and social media content. He works directly with NORC’s experts and senior leadership to disseminate NORC’s research and other important news to leading influencers and stakeholders. He is responsible for preparing NORC experts for media interviews, speeches, and other public appearances including expert testimony on Capitol Hill. He has prepared experts for interviews with media outlets such as National Public Radio, The New York Times, Washington Post, CBS News, The Associated Press, and many others.

Before joining NORC, Eric worked for and consulted with several nonprofit organizations that focused on environmental and scientific issues. As part of this work, Eric led strategic communications efforts for two separate organizations at the Conventions on Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol summits in Montreal, Indonesia, Poland, Denmark, and Mexico.
