The Natural Disaster Toolkit infographic shows data about the toolkit’s reach.
Inconsistent death-reporting practices lead to inaccurate counting of disaster-related deaths.
For the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NORC developed a toolkit and complementary training to improve the identification and attribution of disaster-related deaths. The toolkit gives death scene investigators and death certifiers a common framework for collecting and documenting disaster-related information. We published the toolkit in July 2017 and launched a supplemental training in April 2019.
