NORC Senior Fellow Curt Mueller Named 2022 Outstanding Researcher by National Rural Health Association

Press Release

NORC at the University of Chicago is privileged to announce that—for the second year in a row—the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) is honoring one of our own as a leader in rural health research.

Curt Mueller, a senior fellow in NORC’s Public Health department, is the 2022 recipient of NRHA’s Outstanding Researcher Award. Award criteria include the nominee’s scope of accomplishment, sophistication of scholarly effort, and the significance of the work to rural health.

“It is an honor to receive this award, as much of my career has been devoted to researching how to improve programs that affect the health, and thereby well-being, of the one in five Americans who lives in rural America,” Mueller said.

Mueller’s rural health expertise runs deep. At NORC, he conducts rural health policy research, economic analysis, and evaluation. As a partner in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Alliance to Modernize Healthcare, he identifies policies that will improve health services delivery in rural areas.

Before joining NORC, Mueller served as the director of research and evaluation for the Health Resources & Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy.

We congratulate him on this accolade.
