Emily Krone

Research Scientist
Emily is a health policy researcher who leads health care implementation, analysis, and evaluation projects for Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Emily serves as the project manager for two CMS Innovation Center model evaluations—the  Accountable Care Organization Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (ACO REACH) Model and the Vermont All-Payer ACO Model—where she also contributes to mixed methods analysis, data visualization, and reporting. She leads technical assistance efforts for the Financial Alignment Initiative and the Certified Community Behavioral Health Center Demonstration.

Prior to NORC, Emily worked with the University of Chicago’s Urban Labs to conduct a randomized control trial on the impact of behavioral health services for detainees released from Chicago’s Cook County Jail.

Emily's notable work includes co-authoring a final report for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that examined the effects of ownership changes on hospice care for Medicare beneficiaries (Tracking the Impact of Ownership Changes in Hospice Care Provided to Medicare Beneficiaries, 2017). She also contributed to peer-reviewed research on the evolution of hospice quality oversight, co-authoring a study that analyzed trends and persistent challenges in regulatory effectiveness over nearly a decade (Journal of Palliative Medicine, 2019).
