Laura C. Lanier Joins NORC at the University of Chicago as a Senior Fellow in the Education and Child Development Department

CHICAGO, Feb. 5, 2020 – NORC at the University of Chicago is pleased to announce that Laura C. Lanier, a technical assistance (TA) expert with a focus on the areas of education and workforce development, has been named senior fellow in the Education and Child Development (ECD) department.

Lanier has more than 20 years of experience in complex project management, business development, and TA development and delivery. Her expertise lies in contracts that support career and technical education, adult education, early learning, postsecondary education, workforce development, family engagement, and English language acquisition.

Most recently, Lanier served as senior director of technical assistance at the Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG). She directed multiple projects for the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). She also oversaw and procured contracts for multimillion dollar TA projects in the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education; Office of Elementary and Secondary Education; HHS; and DOL. She led the development and writing of the largest contract awards in MSG’s history: the National Center on English Language Acquisition and the National Charter School Resource Center.

Prior to MSG, Lanier was director of education services for Kratos Defense and Security Solutions from 2001 to 2014. Her responsibilities included overseeing all staff working in education policy, career development, and reading reform, and implementing national projects to support the development of evidence-based research and practice in elementary and adult education.
