NORC’s Ashani Johnson-Turbes Re-elected Vice President of the Society for Health Communication

CHICAGO, February 6, 2023 — NORC is proud to announce that Ashani Johnson-Turbes has been re-elected as vice president of the Society for Health Communication for the 2023 term.

Johnson-Turbes is a NORC vice president, director of NORC’s Center on Equity Research, and member of NORC’s Diversity, Racial Equity, and Inclusion (DREI) Steering Committee. She is an award-winning social scientist with over 20 years of experience conducting health communication, social marketing, public health, and public policy research, including rigorous evaluations of communication messages, campaigns, and initiatives to promote health equity. 

As vice president of the Society for Health Communication, Johnson-Turbes partners with the Society’s steering committee, advisory board, and executive director to advance its mission and goals and meaningfully contribute to the field of health communication. Additionally, she sets and works to achieve the Society’s strategic, DEI, and growth goals. Johnson-Turbes was first elected as vice president in 2022. 

The Society, founded in 2016, is a member-driven organization working to advance the science of health communication.
