NORC Welcomes Robert Goerge as Senior Fellow in Economics, Justice & Society Department
CHICAGO, July 9, 2024—NORC at the University of Chicago is pleased to announce that Robert Goerge is joining NORC as a senior fellow in the Economics, Justice & Society department.
Goerge’s expertise will allow him and NORC to use administrative and other alternative sources of data to build evidence that informs policymakers’ decision-making. He will develop and apply research to major child and family policy issues, including early childhood programs, child welfare services, employment, criminal and juvenile justice, income maintenance, nutrition, K-12 and post-secondary education, and mental health services.

Goerge joins NORC from Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, where he developed Chapin Hall’s Integrated Database on Child and Family Programs in Illinois. He has conducted research and evaluations in multiple states and nationally using linked databases. Recent work includes research on the child care workforce and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program participation. He was also the principal investigator of the 2012 National Survey of Early Care and Education, is a co-founder of the International Society for Child Indicators, and is a member of the Committee on National Statistics (CNSTAT) at the National Academy of Sciences. He is also a senior fellow and lecturer at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.

Goerge holds a PhD and an MA from the University of Chicago and earned his BA from Northwestern University.
