Jen Taub

Jen’s work focuses on data privacy techniques, including statistical disclosure limitation and synthetic data.

Jen is a statistician III at NORC. Her focus has been statistical disclosure limitation (SDL) and synthetic data. During her time at NORC, she has worked on a number of projects pertaining to the application of SDL techniques and the analysis of disclosure risk. She has also worked on projects relating to record linkage.

Some of Jen’s projects include working on the disclosure avoidance plan and application of SDL methods for Pew’s Asian American Survey, the Entrepreneurship in the Population (EPOP) survey, and the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). Jen also worked to create a synthetic version of the National Hospital Care Survey (NHCS).

Prior to joining NORC, Jen worked for the Energy Information Administration (EIA) as part of the team that produced the Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS). She earned her PhD in Social Statistics at the University of Manchester. Her doctoral dissertation explored data utility and disclosure risk metrics for synthetic data. This included co-authoring a paper that introduced the disclosure risk metric, Differential Correct Attribution Probability (DCAP), a method of assessing disclosure risk for synthetic data.
