Ryan is a senior research director. He possesses a robust set of technical and problem-solving skills enabling him and his teams to develop some of the most complex survey instruments in the field. His broad range of expertise in operational methods and research design, including project design, data collection procedures, data management, program design, and strategic task planning, allows him to effectively manage project relations and ensure the successful execution of all survey projects. His deep experience equips him to effectively supervise staff growth, provide impactful client guidance, and ensure projects run smoothly meeting budget and objectives.
Ryan’s skills and expertise are best illustrated through his work on several key NORC projects. On the Oakland Promise Brilliant Baby project, he designs and automates survey administration systems for early childhood development research, effectively reducing field costs. For the landmark Abecedarian at Midlife study, he enhances ongoing longitudinal survey architecture, oversees in-depth data collection, and manages field staff to recruit hard-to-reach populations. On the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey, he provides cross-functional leadership developing robust CAPI survey instruments and managing complex questionnaire documentation across a large, collaborative team. Ryan led and managed large-scale recruitment, incentive fulfillment, and quality control systems for the National Survey of Early Care and Education, coordinating across vendors and teams to ensure efficient, compliant operations nationwide and a seamless respondent experience.
Ryan currently is an associate project director for the Creciendo Juntos Evaluation, a unique longitudinal study requiring adaptive recruitment strategies and survey design in collaboration with community partners. He also is a key lead for the Mellon National Survey of Artists, leading data collection that leveraged NORC’s Amerispeak® panel and True North® methodologies. Ryan is also the associate project director for the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures Survey, a national survey designed to provide stakeholders a landscape of Latino Arts and Culture organizations and facilitate decision making.
