Problem

The AstraZeneca Foundation needed a culturally responsive approach to evaluate its Together for CHANGE program.

To aid in advancing equity and ensuring that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of health, the AstraZeneca Foundation (AZF) has established the Together for CHANGE (Changing Health Access for Next Generation Equity) program. Together for CHANGE supports nonprofit organizations with initiatives that address social determinants of health. In particular, the program supports nonprofits that focus on improving access to healthcare.

Solution

NORC and Together for CHANGE grantees will co-create an evaluation and reporting framework.

As the Evaluation and Technical Assistance Provider (ETAP), NORC will leverage the Center on Equity Research’s diversity, racial equity, and inclusion (DREI) research principles in a culturally responsive and equitable evaluation.

NORC will co-create an evaluation and reporting framework alongside the Together for CHANGE grantees—a collaborative process that ensures evaluation results reflect the lived experience and expertise of the grantees, thus strengthening the quality and utility of the evaluation results.

Result

The project will pursue four main goals.

NORC will fulfill four main goals over the lifecycle of the AZF project:

  • Identify grantees with the capacity for the greatest impact on advancing equity in access to healthcare
  • Develop a culturally responsive, multi-site evaluation design
  • Provide evaluation training, technical assistance, and capacity-building to grantees
  • Promote successful replication of grantees' program methods to advance health equity through toolkits, presentations, publications, and other dissemination products
