Molly Hensche
Molly is a research scientist in the Health Sciences department at NORC at the University of Chicago. She conducts and leads quantitative analyses of hospital administrative and claims data for small- and large-scale healthcare research projects. Her experience in data analysis spans a range of health topics, including maternal and child health, health disparities, sepsis, and emergency department utilization. Molly leverages her expertise and knowledge of healthcare data to provide guidance and technical assistance to researchers on analytic and technical methods.
At NORC, Molly serves as a task lead on the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP), where she leads focused healthcare analytic requests from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) as well as other federal agencies. She also leads analytic work orders using the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) Health Care Payments Data (HPD). In addition, in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Molly supports the implementation of dashboards and analytic reports related to internal metrics and milestones for the All of Us research program.
Prior to NORC, Molly spent nearly ten years at IBM on HCUP. She led the collection, analysis, and dissemination of a national database of hospital readmissions and several analytic databases of special interest, including topics of COVID-19 and emergency preparedness. She helped facilitate development and maintenance for a suite of analytic tools designed to enhance research using diagnosis and procedure codes. Molly served as a lead presenter and content developer for webinars and workshops that provided analytic and technical methods for working with healthcare data to public data users, state data organizations, and other federal agencies. She also assisted countless users in data integration, analysis, methodology, and tool application as well as led educational development opportunities. In addition, Molly provided analytic support on real world studies of claims data conducted as part of an initiative with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
