NORC studies the outdoor recreational habits of children and adults in the U.S. and their economic impacts to inform data-driven policy and program development.

Outdoor recreation is vital to American life, contributing significantly to the economy and the health and well-being of individuals and families. NORC studies the full variety of ways in which people engage with nature, from fishing and hunting to boating and wildlife watching. We use advanced survey methodologies to reach key national, regional, and state populations, including anglers, boaters, hunters, and wildlife watchers, as well as the broader public.

Recreation data are crucial for state and federal agencies, industry leaders, nonprofits, and foundations that rely on accurate information to guide and manage their programs. With detailed insights into outdoor recreational habits and their economic impacts, these agencies can develop policies and allocate resources more effectively. Our research supports programs that enhance recreational opportunities, promote safety, improve security, and ensure the conservation of natural resources for future generations.
